Rev. Glen Wells

The Guy Up Front

Rev. Wells brings an engaging fresh perspective to ministry at Grace United, incorporating sound and video in his worship services and regularly leaving the pulpit to speak more directly with his congregation. His overall goal? To help ordinary people grow into an extraordinary life with Christ.

Growing up in a strong Christian family in Sault Ste. Marie, nurtured by adoptive parents, Rev. Wells was fortunate to have an enduring bond with his Indigenous birth mother. Like many teens, he was not particularly interested in church, even though his adoptive father was a lay preacher. In fact, Rev. Wells envisioned himself pursuing a career that would involve politics. However, he experienced an ‘AHA’ moment around the age of 15 when he attended a Christian youth retreat in Barrie one summer, realizing that God was telling him to change direction. Consequently, he began leading Christian groups in high school, and then again in university.

Despite the strong call he’d felt from God, after graduation, Rev. Wells took a marketing position with the Campbell Soup Company. His work skills were much appreciated, but he says that call felt ever present. It was not long before he made the decision to quit his job and enter Divinity College. He was ordained in 1995.

Before he was invited to minister with the congregation at Grace in April 2022, Rev. Wells served in a number of churches in both urban and rural settings across southern Ontario, and credits each with providing special and unique experiences. Of note, his first posting was to a three-point pastoral charge northeast of Toronto with a strong musical presence. Always interested in young people, he started a casual Friday night youth group there that mushroomed into a motivated group of teens who developed a Christian musical drama called “Birthing the Dream” which toured Canada over a three-year period (17 stops to the West Coast, 14 stops to the East Coast, and multiple performances in Ontario).

In his leisure time, Rev. Wells enjoys golf, tennis, and spending time at the gym. In his profession as a minister, his joy comes from walking with God together with those in his congregation. He loves helping people find ways to grow in their faith and gets excited by the moment when he sees God’s light turn on in a person’s heart and soul.
As the Office Administrator at Grace United Church, Teresa Harrow is the friendly “face of Grace” who manages the daily operations of the church office and helps keep the church running smoothly with a joy filled heart.  From coordinating church communications & events to supporting Rev. Glen, our church Committees and groups, Teresa brings warmth, organization, and a heart for service to everything she does.

Teresa loves connecting with people, and can sometimes be found in the office or another meeting room in the church counselling an office visitor over coffee.  She is always ready to lend a hand wherever needed, and being part of a team that serves with heart.  She is a beloved member of the church, and she volunteers her time on the Stewards Committee, as well as the Missions & Outreach Committee.

Teresa was born and raised in Newmarket and now calls Ancaster home.  Before joining the team at Grace, Teresa worked as a Legal Assistant in Toronto and Calgary, and now uses her brilliant organization and people skills to help keep things running smoothly around the church.  She loves being part of such a warm and faith-filled community.

When she’s not at the office, Teresa enjoys relaxing by the pool, enjoying a day at the beach, hiking, horseback riding, planning family parties, creating new traditions and memories with family & friends, going to concerts or live sporting events, curling, and enjoying a game of “nine and dine” with her husband James at the Brantford Golf & Country Club.  You can often find her spending time with her husband, their two daughters, Ella & Audrey, and their Cavalier King Charles-Poodle mix Monty, or with her family and friends, trying new recipes, organizing or decorating something in her house, or shopping.  She’s a big fan of Christmas, and if you walk into the office in October you may hear Christmas jazz music playing from her computer and her fireplace turned on.
